Detail Signal Conditioners ( DAQ Series, MDAQ, PAD, EPAD & LPAD Modules)
Signal Conditioners ( DAQ Series, MDAQ, PAD, EPAD and LPAD modules)
signal conditioning modules are available in a variety of configurations. they can be combined in countless ways, such as integrated with any of our PC-based instruments, or in separate chassis which serves as a front-end to any data acquisition system. Several distinct series of signal conditioners are available, as you will see below
DAQ and MDAQ modules are for dynamic signals, while PAD, EPAD & LPAD modules are for static and quasi-static signals ( not that LPAD can also handle dynamic signals up to a certain bandwidth) .
DAQ SERIES
DAQ modules are single-channel plug-in units for dynamic signals. They are available for just about every popular sensor and input type in use today. These include voltage from mV to kV, strain gages, accelerometers, thermocouples and RTD' s ( see all the PAD/ EPAD/ CPAD series for static and quasi-static voltage and temperature measurements) , potentiometric, and current sensors.
DAQ modules are single-channel plug-in units for dynamic signals. The modules shown on this page are available in several versions according to variable such as the isolation, range, or bandwidth ( see the table for details) . Some are offered with a selection of input connector type, which will be shown below the table. In general, DAQ modules are:
Single input channel modules
Medium/ High bandwidth - for dynamic signals
Isolated ( depending on the module)
Analog signal output ( ± 5 V) - perfect for A/ D card connection
Modular - that means easy to change in the field with just 2 screws
Plug into DEWETRON systems with built-in slots or...
Plug into DEWE-30 series signal conditioning racks or...
Plug into DEWE-50 series ADC signal conditioning racks
MDAQ SERIES
MDAQ modules are essentially a small " cluster" of DAQ modules, in 8 or 16 channel increments. MDAQ modules can be built-in to a DEWETRON system or chassis - and they are also available as external modules which connect directly to one of the A/ D cards in your DEWETRON system or another computer.
Higher Density Modules for Dynamic Signals
MDAQ modules are essentially a small " cluster" of DAQ modules, in 8 or 16 channel increments. MDAQ modules can be built-in to a DEWETRON system or chassis - and they are also available as external modules which connect directly to one of the A/ D cards in your DEWETRON system or another computer. There are no compromises with MDAQ conditioners - they offer the highest performance possible!
Here are the key modules within this series, organized by signal type:
MDAQ Module Types
Our MDAQ series modules are divided into several logical groups according to their application and input types. Please use the buttons above to look further into any of these groups to learn more about them!
VOLTAGE MODULE ( wide ranging module from 125 mV to 200V)
ACCELEROMETER MODULES ( constant current type)
STRAIN GAGE MODULES ( basic bridge and powerful strain gage types)
OHMIC & POTENTIOMETRIC ( see strain gage above)
Note - with our unique ADAP " smart adapters" , you can convert MDAQ channels of one type to another type! This provides the kind of channel-by-channel flexibility that our customers have been asking for! ADAP converters utilize TEDS smart sensor technology to make using them as easy as plugging them in. ADAP converters provide additional input types, including:
TEMPERATURE ( thermocouple J, K, T)
CURRENT INPUTS ( 0-20 or 4-20 mA, and 0-5A DC inputs)
PAD SERIES
PAD series modules have their own ADC' s built into them, so they output data via RS485 ( can be converted to RS232 or USB for connecting to any computer) . PAD modules are form & fit compatible with DAQ series modules, and therefore plug into the same module slots in your DEWETRON system, DEWE-RACK, or DEWE-BOOK.
PAD/ EPAD General Information
PAD and EPAD modules for temperature, voltage and current are 8-channel quasi-static modules. They have a separate 24-bit ADC for each channel built in. Therefore, they modules output digitized data directly into DEWESoft software ( across the serial interface, which is more than fast enough for this slow-speed data) . Here are a few general notes about the primary PAD and EPAD modules:
8-channel modules - plug into the same slots that DAQ modules can
Low bandwidth - for quasi-static signals
Isolation ( amount depends on which module)
Digital serial output ( there is no analog output)
Modular - can be changed in the field
PAD: Plug into DEWETRON systems with built-in DAQ/ PAD slot( s) or...
Plug into DEWE-30 series signal conditioning racks or...
Plug into DEWE-50/ 52 series ADC signal conditioning racks
EPAD: external, daisy-chainable - can be connected to any Dewetron system, or any computer using an EPAD-BASE interface module.
EPAD SERIES
EPAD modules are essentially external versions of the PAD-TH8-P and PAD-V8-P ( see above) , already integrated with a break-out box, all in one. Each EPAD provides 8 input channels, and models are available for thermocouple types J, K, and T, as well as VDC and low current via shunt resistors. EPAD modules connect to your DEWETRON system via the standard EPAD connector that they all have ( since 2004) , or via an RS232 or USB interface box available from DEWETRON, to any computer. Best of all, EPAD modules can be daisy-chained together, adding hundreds of channels to any system.
8-channel External Modules for Slow Signals

LPAD SERIES
LPAD modules are external modules that connect to your Dewetron system ( or any computer) via Ethernet. There is a voltage module and a thermocouple module. The LPAD series is incredibly robust, allowing to mount them in the worst environments. LPAD modules can be daisy-chained together on Ethernet, adding hundreds of channels to any system...even connected at quite a distance from the acquisition system.
LPAD General Information
LPAD series modules are multichannel modules which combine analog amplifier and A/ D converter in one module. One 24-bit A/ D converter per channel, synchronized sampling and isolation per channel allow acquisition of hundreds of channels.
Data transfer is done via Ethernet interface. These modules are extremly rugged and work in a very wide temperature range.
Multi channel
Up to 10 kHz Bandwidth
Isolated
IP65 environmental protection
Extreme operating temperature range:
-40 ° C to + 120 ° C ( -40 ° F to + 248 ° F)
100 MBit/ s Ethernet interface for flexible connectivity
8-channel CAN-BUS module
At 10 Hz output rate, the CPAD offers a little bit more speed than the EPAD. There are 8 isolated input channels...each one sampled internally via a separate 16-bit A/ D converter.
All channels are sampled simultaneously, and you are protected with the CPAD' s 500 V isolation between channels ... as well as 500 V protection between the signals and the CAN-BUS itself.
The CPAD is available in one version: with 8 x type K thermocouple inputs.
The accuracy is + / -0.75C, and the CPAD also includes sensor disconnection detection electronics!
Connect the CPAD to any Dewetron system via the CAN-BUS. Or connect it to your own system in the same way - the users manual includes the arb. ID' s and info that you need to read the values from the CPAD into your own system.
